1973 Mercury Cougar

Description

This is a rare 1973 Cougar XR-7 Convertible.  Less than 4500 were built in 1973, and the cougar registry estimates only 855 remain.  This cougar xr-7 has all power options, power top, power windows, power steering, power brakes. The body is solid, but still needs work.  The rear lower trunk drop offs need to be replaced, inexpensive at any cougar site. and there are some spots in the trunk floor that need attention.  This is a minor restoration project.
The cougar has a unique rear disc brake set up with a posi rear end.  The factory 351 Cleveland engine has been rebuilt, runs fine.  The brake work well.  The seats are in good condition but not perfect.  There are no rips in them nor are there any rips in the dash.  You will need door panels, again they are available new at any restoration shop dealing with mustangs or cougars.  The carpet is currently out, but I have it.  It is a project but worth doing since most of the hard work has been done, it has a rebuilt engine, and it is an XR-7 with not many around anymore.
