1994 Mercury COugar XR-7 Gold Cat Edition with Only 37k Actual & Documented Miles
1994 Mercury Cougar XR-7 "Gold Cat" Edition. Only 37k original and documented miles! This Cougar is extremely rare, as it came with (and still retains) its factory original options, however, is equipped with what is believed to be a non-factory but dealer-added "Gold Cat" package.
Over the years, there were many variations of the cougar that were produced, including the city editions (Bostonian, Coloradan, San Antonian, Pittsburgh, and Houstonian). But there were also many others popularized - and some NOT so popular - by individual dealers and smaller aftermarket companies. There is very little information available about the multitude of models produced, but this "Gold Cat Edition" is certainly something special. It boasts gold trim features, golden C-pillar details, unique badging in addition to the factory XR-7, plus the commonly seen faux convertible top covering the rear roof area. Other similar Cougars include the Night Cat, the Black Cat, and even a super-sporty Track Cat.
The total production numbers of these specialty editions are unknown and production was far less than the more popular city edition vehicles. Regardless, this rarity is an untouched, two-owner Cougar equipped with the typical 4.6 Litre V8 found in all XR-7 models.
The car is in great shape for it's age, and everything is functional apart from the factory radio. It's believed that the previous owner removed an aftermarket radio before the sale, and possibly installed the factory original radio incorrectly.
The exterior paint is in great condition in some areas, yet shows heavy fading in other areas such as the hood and deck lid due to loss of clearcoat. The interior is in good condition but again shows unavoidable signs of aging due on areas such as carpeting and seats. See photos below for details However, the vehicle has no major issues and for a '94 model with 37,580 documented miles, this car truly is a steal for the right person!
Runs and drives very well - tight and smooth, yet could benefit greatly from some exterior paintwork. It has been well-maintained mechanically and runs very strong, just as it should. Call
