Astro Compass
MOUNTING BRACKET
Here's a 10-1/4" long aluminum
Mounting Bracket
for the
Astro Compass
used by the United States & Great Britain military during WWII . It's marked
GLM
(Glenn L. Martin) with part #
162C71309
.
It's plane type is a mystery - might have come from a Martin
B-26 Marauder
(?) or perhaps (more likely) a
PBM Mariner
or even their
JRM Mars
. . . I really don't know.
Comes with its chain/hook that kept it from wandering too far inside the aircraft.
Shows slight wear from use & storage.
The spring-loaded, rotating base still has Cosmolene residue.
