Description
'The Highwayman' 1951 media guide- Philip Friend Wanda Hendrix. Rare theatrical release media guide from Allied Artists for this classic swashbuckling 1951 film, including a one sheet insert with Drive-In Theater suggestions. 9X12 size as folded and saddle stitched. I've had this since my twenties and it's never been framed or displayed. There is a fold crack on one page that was there when I bought this some forty years ago from a film memorabilia collector in Miami. A great item for not only anyone with highwayman or pirate interests but also any swashbuckling fan of pre-60s films. The film itself is based on Alfred Noyes' classic poem 'The Highwayman' with some Robin Hood intent sprinkled in to fill in the 82 minute cinecolor film length. It stars Philip Friend as the aristocrat moonlighting as a highwayman robber, with Wanda Hendrix as the love interest Bess, and Savannah Georgia's own Charles Coburn as Lord Walters. Basically the poem itself doesn't really become part of the film till the last thirty minutes, but there's plenty of melodrama and good old fashioned buckling of the swash to keep any costume drama fan glued to their seat. Thanks for looking at this listing hope it is the perfect addition to your film collection and or display, or a great gift to someone who seeks this sort of memorabilia out. Will ship in a flat box to prevent damage.
