Description
In this auction you will be bidding on a World War-II U.S. aviators folding machete, rare brightblade variant. Most of these machetes were made with a blue blade. This is an early example of the type with the bright blade. This machete is extremely tight. The blade lock functions flawlessly and the blade rotates with ease. The plastic grips show one crack on the ball end of the handle and still retain their shiny finish. The blade shows sharpening post factory and is extremely sharp! There is some medium pitting on the spine towards the front of machete, it does not detract from its appearance. The handguard that also acts as a scabbard rotates cleanly and locks in place. the leather thongs both on the machete and on the scabbard are still soft and supple. The leather scabbard is still soft and supple and all the stitching is tight. The snap appears to have been repaired with some type of epoxy. There is no sharpening stone in the scabbard.
