The Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained former food minister Qamrul Islam from the capital’s Uttara last night.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of the DMP, confirmed the arrest of the Awami League leader.
Qamrul, former lawmaker for Dhaka-2 constituency, has been accused in several cases with various police stations after the fall of Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5 over attacks on the student-led mass uprising.
He served as the food minister from 2014 to 2018.
